What is NFC Signage?
Smart signage is an umbrella term that covers different types of sign technology that delivers an electronicc experience to customers. In large format printing, we use QR (Quick Response) codes and NFC (Near Field Communication) shortwave radio transmissions chips. Smart signs work smarter, not harder, to engage your potential audience and provide them with information about your product.
InfoLnkX by SpeedPro applies NFC technology to large-format printing applications including signs, banners, acrylic decals, and more to combine real life interactions with an online customer experience. InfoLnkX is a touchless technology that delivers information directly to a user’s smartphone when they hold their phone near an NFC chip. As opposed to QR codes, NFC chips generally do not require an app install to access the chip’s information.
InfoLnkX NFC tags in large-format print applications direct users to website links and digital content. We have seen great success in rolling out this technology to restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to provide touchless and paperless menus. Retail locations, museums and other public attractions also use the technology to relay information to customers and visitors via a touchless, personalized experience.
Why Invest in NFC Signage?
Support Your Brand
In a world that’s constantly and rapidly changing, businesses get ahead by standing out and being different. NFC signage is not yet a widespread and well-known practice. The use of a newer technology sets you apart, especially when you pair the tech with flashy, eye-catching, branded graphics.
InfoLnkX, provides you the opportunity to brand bodly while also giving your customers a unique experience. Your InfoLnkX package comes with all the normal vinyl graphic benefits, plus the experience of touchless technology for you and your customers. With the ability to link the NFC technology with many applications, the use of InfoLnkX can be a great conversation starter or even just a way to give out information. The use of touchless technology also promotes a touchless environment and can reduce the use of paper products.
For instance, a small circular graphic in the middle of a restaurant table can pull up your digital menu. Or, the tap of a phone on a new hall display opens extra information rather than your info being limited to the display’s small description plaque. The possibilities are endless! Especially when you’re not limited to web links. Instead, you have the option to program your chip with wi-fi connections, contact information, social media profiles and more!
NFC vs QR Codes
Unlike a QR code, users can update the information stored on the chip as their use of NFC changes. For instance, a restaurant QR code links to a static menu page. As soon as that menu changes, the QR code changes as well, requiring the restaurant to reprint their QR codes. NFC, however, hosts a dynamic site link that allows the website to be changed without changing the NFC tag.
NFC applications are also less tacky than the typical QR codes you see. QR codes are made of blocks, and have to be fully visible in order to work. NFC, however, can be covered by any graphic you choose, though we suggest some element of your graphic directs people how to use the NFC tech.
In order for your phone to read the NFC chip, you must hold the device about an inch or so from the chip. Apple’s NFC reader is higher on the phone than Samsung’s, so keep that in mind if your phone isn’t reading the chip right away.
Easy Customer Engagement
NFC is used largely to add digital experiences for consumers. Even without an active internet connection or WIFI, NFC information exchanges can take place when the device comes within 5 cm. of an NFC enabled sign. NFC technology is used in the keycards you receive at a hotel. Apple pay, Google pay, Android Pay, and Samsung pay also use NFC payment technology. With NFC, brands can link relevant information directly into the product itself. Basically, a smart sticker with NFC technology communicates with the customer’s phone to deliver information, delivering short-range information.
Your InfoLnkX package comes with all the normal vinyl graphic benefits, plus the experience of touchless technology. With the ability to link the NFC technology to many different applications, InfoLnkX can be a great conversation starter or even just a way to give out information. The use of touchless technology also promotes a touchless environment and can reduce the use of paper products.
First, your custom graphics grab the attention of your customers. Then, once the customer taps their phone to the NFC chip, whatever you’ve programmed the chip with will hold your customers attention for a while or at least make the experience more memorable.
Benefits of NFC Signage with SpeedPro Greenville

Customer Service
Our goal is to help your brand stand out. Just think of us as an extension of your marketing team. We ask questions to make sure you receive the best solution to help you reach your marketing goals because your satisfaction with the finished product means a great deal to us.
Quality Materials
InfoLnkX graphics are as good as the normal graphics are – durable and of good print quality. A thin layer of vinyl/laminate does not hinder the strength of the NFC chip, and the chips are both scratch and heat resistant. The vinyl itself is typically water resistant as well and can protect the chip (which lays under the vinyl) from liquids.
Turnkey Solutions
We are first and foremost large format printers, but we offer turnkey solutions for our clients. Design can be added or a template provided upon request. For InfoLnkX, we include the first programming and teach you how to reprogram. All graphics are custom printed – your design can be anything you want it to be.
