A Big Lie

It’s a common phrase, “Print is Dead.”  But it couldn’t be any less true.  Since the introduction of mobile phones and social media, it has been said that printed media’s days are numbered. However, Printed graphics are alive and well, take a walk outside and you’ll see print advertising all around you.
We here at SpeedPro Tempe-Chandler prove it’s not only alive, but thriving.  “Print is Dead” is a big lie.

How many ads does one person see in a day?

The amount of advertisements we are exposed to in a day seems to be increasing every single day.  With our phones we are constantly bombarded with them.  You wake up in the morning to several emails and texts from brands announcing a new sale or product.  When you check social media to interact with friends,  you’re only greeted with more ads.  It’s overwhelming at times!  And every advertiser is fighting for your attention every second of the day.  Many of them end up going unnoticed, and of those that are seen, most are forgotten.
According to a study done in 2015, each person is subject to about 4000-10,000 ads everyday.  In the last 7 years that number has surely grown.

Why Print graphics are Thriving

Even with the use digital media increasing, the print industry is doing really well.  Business owners are still using business cards, brochures, bookmarks, stationaries, and physical portfolios.  If you received a pen that had the branding of an insurance company, and use it for the next 6 months, they’ll likely be the company you call first next time you need insurance.  These physical items that you can hold in your hand create far more brand recall and brand recognition than the thousands of digital ads you see everyday.

Printed Graphics Increase Brand Recall

Brand recall is the MOST important aspect of advertising.  Brand recall is the likelihood of people remembering your company/brand.  It’s what sets companies like McDonalds and Nike apart from everyone else.  Printed graphics increase brand recall far more than a social media advertisement.  You’re far more likely to remember a brand or advertisement that you didn’t see on a tiny screen.  According to Southern California News Group, print ads have better readability (for young adults), increased recall, and higher response motivation.
At SpeedPro we specialize in Great. Big. Graphics.  Our large format prints range from Banners to Vehicle Wraps and include everything in between.  Think big and we’ll print it.  The results are worth it.

Conclusion

Print advertising isn’t dead.  It’s an essential part of building brand recall and recognition.  Digital media is important as well, but the two working seamlessly together will lead to a successful brand and company.  Printed graphics aren’t dying, they’re still thriving in an ever growing digital world.
