A backlit sign with your logo or information on it can be a great way to draw a customer’s attention, but how are these useful marketing tools made? Let’s take a closer look at the process of creating a backlit sign.

1. CHOOSING THE DISPLAY FRAME

Start by choosing your display frame, the hardware that will support your lighting and graphic sign. You’ve got a few options here. Fabric towers work well with vehicle space, displaying LED-backlit graphics up to 12 feet tall, which is sure to catch everyone’s attention. You can also put graphics panels on two or all four sides of these frames.

Counter displays are smaller, but they’re ideal for your reception desk or as a centerpiece on a table. They can be collapsible so they’re easy to move, and may come with storage options.

Straight displays are easy to move, collapsible and can display graphics up to 30 feet wide. They’re simple to set up, with the graphics display zipped over a rectangular frame tube. Think of these as lightweight backlit billboards without the hassle of the monthly rent. Push-fit fabric displays are quick and easy to set up and can be made with single or double-sided frames, depending on your needs.

Once you’ve decided on a display frame, it’s time to add lighting.

2. ATTACHING LED LIGHTING

It wouldn’t be a backlit display without some lighting. SpeedPro utilizes LED lights in its displays because they last 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs while providing an unprecedented level of energy efficiency. They’re also less likely to break under impact. LED lights are attached to the frame to create the illumination effect you’re looking for.

3. CREATING THE GRAPHIC DISPLAY

Next, you need to create the graphics display that will be showcased on this backlit frame. Make sure you’re opting for the highest-quality materials possible. Most of these displays are made with printed fabric because it allows the light to shine through, but some can be created to accommodate vinyl instead.

You’ll need a high-quality graphic, but these displays can showcase anything from a message to an image that describes your company. Dye sublimation transfers the image to the fabric or vinyl, creating a UV-resistant display that will look good for years to come.

4. SHOWCASING YOUR NEW BACKLIT DISPLAY

Finally, all you have to do is show off your new backlit graphics display. They’re ideal for everything from fairs and festivals to product launches, trade shows and conferences. Just plug in the lights to illuminate your image, and you’ll draw customers in like a moth to a flame.

5. EXCHANGING THE GRAPHICS

You don’t need to start this whole process over if you need to update your graphics. You can easily set up your frame and lighting to accommodate different graphics, depending on your needs. Swap them out between events, or use the same sign for your storefront that you take with you to trade shows — the graphics are quick and easy to switch out.
