Outdoor Signage

At Speedpro, we pride ourselves on being able to find solutions with a huge array of large format products. Way finding signage is a system of visual cues and information designed to help people navigate and orient themselves within a physical environment, such as buildings, campuses, cities, or public spaces. These signs are strategically placed to provide essential guidance, assisting individuals in finding their way from one location to another, understanding their surroundings, and making informed decisions during their journey. Take a look below to find out what type of way finding signage could be beneficial for you!

Different Types of Wayfinding Signage

Directional Signs

These signs point the way to specific destinations or landmarks, indicating distances and providing clear arrows or symbols to guide individuals along the correct path.

Informational Signs

These signs offer detailed information about various points of interest, facilities, or services within the environment. They might include maps, directories, or lists of nearby amenities.

Identification Signs

These signs help users confirm their location by displaying names and numbers associated with different buildings, streets, or areas.

Safety Signs

In addition to navigation, wayfinding signage can also include safety-related information, such as emergency exit routes, fire evacuation plans, or hazardous areas.

Consistency in Design

Effective wayfinding signage maintains a consistent design language, using standardized fonts, colors, symbols, and layouts. This consistency enhances clarity and recognition.

Universal Symbols

To accommodate diverse user groups, many wayfinding signs incorporate universally recognized symbols, which can transcend language barriers.

Accessibility

Ensuring that signage is accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities, is a critical consideration. This involves using tactile elements, Braille, and audible cues where necessary.

Who Benefit’s From Wayfinding Signage Most?

Wayfinding signage plays a crucial role in various environments, including airports, hospitals, shopping malls, museums, and urban landscapes. It not only enhances the overall user experience by reducing confusion and stress but also improves safety and efficiency. Effective wayfinding design takes into account factors like human behavior, psychology, and spatial awareness to create a seamless and intuitive navigation experience.

Our Past Way Finding Sign Projects

Recently, we did a project at a local synagogue adding wayfinding signage around the whole property. Having a school, place of worship, and community in the same area may seem hard to navigate. Wayfinding signage is much more effective and efficient for not just your business, but the customers supporting it as well. There are several reasons why a synagogue benefits from wayfinding signage. Firstly, synagogues often feature multiple rooms and areas, including prayer halls, educational spaces, administrative offices, and social gathering areas. Clear and well-placed wayfinding signs help congregants and visitors easily locate these spaces, ensuring they can participate in religious services, educational activities, and community events without confusion.

Along with making buildings easier to locate, wayfinding signage can play a critical role in safety. During emergency situations, wayfinding signs can direct people to fire exits and evacuation routes. Additionally, synagogues often host a diverse group of attendees, including elderly individuals or those with limited mobility, making accessibility information vital. Overall, wayfinding signage not only enhances the overall synagogue experience by promoting a sense of welcome and inclusivity but also contributes to the safety and efficiency of the congregation’s activities.
