When Priscilla Leto’s son was diagnosed with a form of Autism in 2010, she pursued every service and therapy available to try to help mitigate the social, academic, and behavioral challenges he faced. Now a teenager, Priscilla’s son has overcome many of his challenges and continues on a path to reaching his greatest potential. Throughout this journey, Priscilla spoke with many parents of children with Neurodevelopmental challenges – parents that wanted to help their child grow, develop, and succeed but did not have the resources to pursue available services and therapies that could help their child. In 2017, Priscilla came together with other individuals whose lives had been touched by someone with Autism to form Mission: Kid Success to bring hope to these families.
Mission: Kid Success (MKS) is a 501(c)3 charitable and educational organization that aids children struggling with academic, social, and behavioral challenges due to Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Anxiety, Developmental Delays and other Neurodevelopmental conditions. While many therapeutic services and programs are available to help these children improve their quality of life and development, many families cannot afford these services and programs. Many of these services and programs are not covered or only partially covered by insurance and the out-of-pocket costs can be overwhelming for many families. MKS provides grants so that these children can have access to important services and therapies that their families otherwise cannot afford. MKS is 100% volunteer run and all their minimal operating costs are covered by their board members and sponsors.
In 2020, MKS was able to award over $20,000 in grants to children so they could get the services and therapies they need. Grants were awarded for Functional Medicine Services and related Supplements, Specialized Auditory Verbal Therapy, Sensory Motor and Cognitive Training, Mentoring, and Adaptive Computer Coding classes.
