Craft Beer and artisanal breweries have been gaining popularity for decades with newcomers popping up all the time. However, if you think craft beer making started in the 1980s and ’90s, back when people became aware of the movement, you’re wrong. Anchor Brewing Company has been at it for years- 125 years.  As America’s first craft brewery, Anchor Brewing has been at the forefront of craft beer making since 1896! Forged in San Francisco during the gold rush, they have boldly blazed the craft beer trail for countless others to follow. 125 years later, the company is still a leader in the craft beer movement and continues to develop new flavors and products.

Beer-making isn’t the only trail the company has blazed, either.

For those not familiar with California’s water issues, droughts and water shortages have been a problem for the state since 2000, with the longest duration of drought in California lasting 376 weeks!

As a proud resident of The Golden State, Anchor Brewing Company has taken the lead yet again in reducing the amount of water used at their facilities and throughout their beer-making process by an impressive 68%!

One way the company has achieved such a drastic reduction in its water usage is through its partnership with Cambrian Innovations, a company whose mission is to make water reuse simple, sustainable, and cost-effective. The company takes our environment seriously and believes it is its fundamental responsibility to innovate to protect our natural resources and create a zero-waste, sustainable future for our communities.

Like Anchor, Cambrian is also a trailblazer. They envision industry as an ecosystem, where economic growth is fueled by the circular management and preservation of natural resources. To them, natural resources are more than their business. They also care deeply about how our resources are managed. On the global stage, Cambrian’s ongoing collaborations with innovation experts and industry leaders have positioned them as a trusted partner in protecting the future of our planet.

Anchor Brewing Company, together with Cambrian, constructed, installed, and manages an on-site water recycling plant. The operation is huge. Built directly across the street from Anchor’s main facility, the plant uses cutting-edge biology that mimics the planet’s natural cycles. Once treated, the newly purified, clean water is sent back to the company’s main facilities across the street and used again.

Anchor Brewing and Cambrian Innovations have together forged a new path when it comes to environmental impact, saving millions of gallons of water a year to be distributed elsewhere by the city of San Francisco.

When Anchor and Cambrian asked for our help to create and install custom graphics throughout the water treatment plant, we were excited to get involved and happy to partner with such eco-friendly brands.
