WHAT IS SOFT SIGNAGE?

Soft signage isn’t a term that is often used outside of the printing industry but it’s simply another term for printed fabric. Printed fabric includes dye sublimation, silicone edge graphics (SEG), and other printing on specialty fabrics and materials. Soft signage and textile printing can help to create beautiful work including:

  • Backdrops
  • Backlit Displays
  • Point of Purchase (POP) Displays
  • Tents
  • Table Coverings
  • Banners
  • Blinds

WHY PRINTED FABRIC?

You may be wondering why you would want to print on fabric rather than another material. However, the answer is simple. As the times become more environmentally conscious and friendly, the better question is why not? Printed fabrics offer natural products such as cotton which allows for a more sustainable set up. This could be exactly what a client is looking for as it coincides with their brand. Fabric will also last much longer than a printed banner or plastic item which will reduce your need to replace the graphic. Demonstrate to others that you care about the environment by choosing to use printed fabric for your signage.

Printed fabric can either be used as a blockout or as a backlit display. Thicker fabrics can help to block out light as well as prints with darker colors. Some fabric options also allow for printing black on the back to ensure that it blocks light. Thinner fabrics with lighter colors make eye-catching backlit displays at trade shows and other events. These fabrics are super durable and unlike plastics, they won’t warp or break over time. With proper maintenance including a machine wash and air dry, they can last for years. Our printed fabrics have finishing that includes sewn edges or silicon edges (see below).

Colors on printed fabrics show up really vibrant and can be perfect for artistic prints. These can also be used in offices as wall dividers. Custom canvas printing and gallery wraps will help to add a little customized art to your walls in your home or office. You can also choose to wrap furniture if you’re not finding any fabrics that match what you’re looking for. We can print any custom graphic on your bolt of fabric and we’ll give it back ready to install. This is also a really fun way to fully customize an interior.

SILICONE EDGE GRAPHICS (SEG)

Silicone edge graphics are dye sublimated fabrics just with a different type of finishing. This finishing includes a thin silicone strip that is sewn directly into the graphic. This graphic is then to be placed inside a special frame. The frame has flexible strips where the graphic can be pressed into and create a snug display. SEG graphics offer a wrinkle free solution to your fabric display because it is using tension.

This type of display allows you to produce photo-quality imagery and really be vibrant by adding lights to the frame creating a backlit effect. If you’re not familiar with the dye-sublimation process, it uses heat to transfer the ink onto the fabric. This gives it that big, bold finish with the colors that are truly eye-catching.
