What is Large-Format Printing?

When people think of printing, what commonly comes to mind are business cards, flyers, postcards, etc. However, at SpeedPro East Bay, we take things to the next level with our large-format printing. This is often called wide format printing which means that we use larger equipment and printers with materials that will create wall murals, banners, oversized posters, tradeshow displays, and more.

If you want to catch your customers’ eye, large-format printing is going to be the way. You have the ability to think big and bring your visions to life when it comes to wide format printing. All you need is a high-resolution design or image. Our printers have the ability to print up to 1440 x 1440 dpi with a print resolution of 720 x 720. Not sure if your image is high enough resolution for your goal? We’re happy to take a look at your file and let you know if it will look good scaled up.

Because the imagery that we can produce is so massive, specialty printers are required. Our latex printer can print up to 6′ wide by 300′ long rolls of material. Our flatbed can print up to 5′ wide by 18′. If your goal is to print something larger than this, don’t worry. We can panel your prints together to produce a larger visual product. The size really is limitless to what we can print.

How Can I Use Large-Format Printing?

Because large-format graphics are so grand, this can be the best way to promote your products or services to potential customers. Whether at your retail location, at a festival, a tradeshow, or on the road, there is always an opportunity to display an advertisement. Since everything can be custom printed and there are no size limits, it’s up to you how big or small you want it. Here is a brief list of different large-format printed items that you can find useful in your business:

What Materials Are Used?

Our printers allow us to print on a wide variety of materials that can be tailored to any project or location whether indoors or outdoors. Some of our most common media include:

Latex Printer Rolled Materials:

  • Vinyl and PVC Free Adhesive
  • Translucent
  • Reflective
  • Banner
  • Photo Paper
  • Poster Paper
  • Etched Frosted Film
  • Canvas
  • Static Cling
  • Perforated Window Film

Flatbed UV Printer Materials:

  • Corrugated Plastic (coroplast)
  • PVC
  • Foamcore
  • Gatorboard
  • Falcon board
  • Aluminum
  • Wood
  • Glass

These two different types of printers both offer their own advantages. Our latex printer uses water-based ink which is overall better for the environment. Instead of using solvent inks that release harmful chemicals in the air, our latex inks are more sustainable and eco-friendly. Our UV printers use latex-based inks that are cured using UV lights to harden the ink and ultimately provide a top layer to your print.

Our materials and ink combined create the boldest and most vivid imagery that cannot be overlooked. The ink will not fade or get damaged in the sun and the materials will last for years to come.
